Off the beaten track....a village nestled in a remote part of Central Madagascar, surrounded by mountains and only accessible by a muddy track a few months per year : welcome to Soatanana !
The village is in a very poor condition : no running water (not even a pit), no electricity, a permanent insecurity exacerbated by cattle rustling,a school in danger of collapsing due tot a recent hurricane. This is in short words the situation we have discovered in April, 2012 by our first visit on the spot.
Why then Soatanana ? The history is extremely simple : in the summer 2009, a priest originating from the village was invited in Pornic (West France) and wished to pinpoint the extreme poverty of his community. He then convinced a few people to create a non profit organization in order to help the inhabitants.
